Bye Planner v2

It is nearly 3 weeks since my last Bye Planner post.

There are now only 3 more rounds, or 8 trades before the Byes hit.

Hopefully coaches understand that your planning should cover more than just knowing when your players have byes.  You also have to make sure you can get all your players onto the required position line, have a good captain option each week and that you have your premium players spread over all 3 rounds.

If you download and put your team into this planner you will see what your team will score in each of the bye rounds, and what your problems are in each of the bye rounds (e.g. uneven spread, players stuck on bench, or no good captain choice).

In the last post I provided a google sheet link that people could copy, save and create their own version. However, it is obvious a lot of people are just using the file online without copying / saving / bookmarking a new copy for themselves.  The problem with this is you have several people using the file at the same time, so anyone can change your changes, and also when you come back after a few days all your changes will be gone.

So this time I’ve made the file an excel spreadsheet.   Anybody can just download it by clicking on the link below.  However, you need a recent version of Microsoft Excel to run it.

Nix-Bye-Planner-v2-2016 Released

There aren’t any significant changes in this file compared to the version in the last post.  So if you are happy with your google sheet version, you can keep using that.

Notes

  • When you open the file it includes a dummy team so you can see how it works.
  • The document includes 3 tabs:
    • Planner – where you see your team.
    • Instructions – read this on how to use the spreadsheet.
    • Data – don’t change this or you will break the planner.
  • The Planner tab includes a panel on lower left side suggesting the trades to get to a balanced 10-10-10 structure (or maybe it is currently at 9.5-10-10.5 I forget), evenly spread between each of the positional lines.  You can change to a different spread if you want.
  • It works for me, but I haven’t tested it much.  If you have any problems let me know.  It you get an error it is most likely you haven’t put in a captain properly for that round.

  1. Working perfectly for me on Ubuntu with LibreOffice Calc. Took me a little while to work out North Melbourne’s acronym…

Thanks again for the awesome resources Nix!
